Movie Review: “Fred Claus”
Vince Vaughn might want to stick to his usual genre of film. With box office hits such as “Wedding Crashers,” “Dodgeball” and “Anchorman” crediting his name, Vaughn seemed to be unstoppable — until now.
Vaughn’s latest venture, “Fred Claus,” is an unimaginative twist on a classically overdone Christmas storyline.
Fred (Vaughn) is the opposite of the classic Santa character, as he works as a grinchy repo-man in Chicago.
When his severe aversion to holiday cheer winds him in jail, he enlists the help of his brother Nick, a.k.a. Santa (Paul Giamatti), to bail him out.
Fred is coerced into working off his debt at the North Pole, and ends up getting more than he bargained for.
Directed by David Dobkin (”Wedding Crashers”) and produced by Joel Silver (”The Matrix”), the two-hour film still might be worth watching at least once.
The tale is enough to get the viewer into the holiday spirit, and it is sure to make you laugh.
