If you only read one book over break
For most of us midterm-swamped college students, it’s rather doubtful we’ll be in the reading mood over spring break, but in case you are, I highly recommend one (or all) of the following page-turners:
1. The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid (Bill Bryson) - one hilarious man’s exaggerated and wickedly funny look at growing [...]
The grand finale? Fireworks at the Democratic debate
It didn’t take long to set the tone at last night’s Democratic Debate in Cleveland, Ohio.
Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama opened what many are calling the most contentious debate yet with a particularly heated exchange over the candidates’ respective health care plans.
Ignoring the intervention of moderator Brian Williams, Clinton and Obama dueled an incredible [...]

The former neighbor of a cousin of a friend of President John F. Kennedy has endorsed Senator Clinton’s presidential bid.
Tom McInerny said of his endorsement of Senator [...]
Cry me a river, Hillary
Judging by her campaign’s latest line of attack, Hillary Clinton really does have reason to worry.
During a conference call with reporters on Monday afternoon, Clinton campaign Communications Director Howard Wolfson argued that much of his boss’ plummeting presidential fortunes could be attributed to an unfriendly media.
“I think it is true that every time the Obama [...]
A crisis of faith? Americans abandoning religious affiliations
The Associated Press reports today that “the U.S. religious marketplace is extremely volatile,” as Americans reevaluate the affiliations of their upbringing or abandon their faith altogether. According to a survey released by the Pew Forum for Religion and Public Life, the United States will soon lose its Protestant majority, at 51 percent and falling.
Major losses within [...]
Clinton strategists “depressed” as perception of Obama “inevitability” grows
The New York Times reported today that “morale is low” amongst Hillary Clinton’s campaign staffers, as the group attempts to rally an electoral comeback against frontrunner Barack Obama. With campaign insiders and political analysts alike calling March 4’s Texas and Ohio contests vital to the success of either campaign, the New York Times report paints [...]
No End in Sight deserves Academy Award, but for all the wrong reasons…
In the glitz and glamour of Hollywood cinema, it’s easy to overlook the generally less sexy of Academy Award categories, including that of Documentary Feature. It’s a sad, ironic truth that such films - often low budget and rough around the edges - are perhaps more capable of pulling at one’s emotions than any over-produced, [...]
AQ Men’s Basketball clinches #1 tournament seed, hits 20 3-pointers to set College record
The Aquinas men’s basketball team soundly defeated UM Dearborn last night 97-58, sinking an incredible twenty 3-point shots to set a new College record. John Lierman, who tied the individual school record with nine 3-point baskets, contributed an awesome 32 points to the win, followed by Jason Fox, who scored 17 off the bench. The [...]
