Serbian protesters torch U.S. embassy in Belgrade; charred body discovered inside
Serbian protesters angered by the United States’ recognition of Kosovo’s independence burned the U.S. embassy in Belgrade today, tore down American flags and battled riot police in the streets. This afternoon, a senior State Department official confirmed that a charred body was found in the building authorities had originally believed to be empty.

The U.S. military said late Wednesday evening that it had successfully intercepted a crippled spy satellite with an SM-3 missile, although it could not confirm destruction of the satellite’s fuel tank. Upon interception, the satellite was traveling at more than 17,000 miles per hour.
