In Brief - Circuit City throws in the towel
After weak sales plagued electronics chain Circuit City for years, the company has finally decided to put up its “for sale” sign.
According to BusinessWeek.com, the likely buyer is Blockbuster, whose largest shareholder, Carl Icahn, has agreed to finance the acquisition.
The idea has been passed around that Blockbuster and Circuit City would come together to create a new national chain selling hardware and software for the consumer, perhaps to take on chain Best Buy, who has been a step ahead of Circuit City in recent years.
