“It is going to take forty years”: Bush angry, defiant on Iraq
Richard Engel, chief foreign correspondent for NBC News, released a new book today on his experience covering the Iraq war, in which an angry and defiant President Bush makes several explosive assertions.
In “War Journal: My Five Years in Iraq,” Engel details an interview in which Bush called the Iraq war “the great war of our times,” and added that “It’s going to take forty years.” In addition, the president acknowledged that “going to war was a decision based on his personal instinct and not on any long-range strategy for the Middle East,” and stated that “I don’t care if it created more enemies.” For more on President Bush’s interview in “War Journal,” visit Talking Points Memo here.
