Rothbury Music Festival Returns for Round Two

If you missed out on the Rothbury Festival last year, make sure you don’t make the same mistake twice. This year’s show is shaping up to be bigger and better than its predecessor. With a fresh new lineup in addition to a handful of other attractions, Rothbury 2009 is creating a huge buzz with music lovers all over.
I would like to assume that everyone reading this is just like me, and you have been anxiously awaiting this year’s artist lineup ever since last year’s show ended. However, for those of you who live under a rock, and have absolutely no idea what the word “Rothbury” even means, here is a brief run down:
Rothbury is a four day festival featuring more live music than you can handle. Basically it is one huge, weekend-long party. On top of all the music, you can also experience light shows, circus acts and other theatrical attractions. According to the festival’s website: “At Rothbury, the show comes off the stage and engages more than a few of your senses.” This year’s festival will have a Masquerade Ball and multiple surprise aerial performances. But let’s be honest, Rothbury is all about the music.
Rothbury 2008 featured multiple big name performers including Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and Snoop Dogg. Along side these world famous musicians were some other fairly well known groups such as 311, Modest Mouse, Colbie Caillat and Slightly Stoopid. Over 80 musical artists were featured at last year’s festival. Rothbury was able to create a huge amount of hype by using all these big name performers and was able to attract thousands of concert goers. Realistically just seeing DMB, Snoop and 311 all together would’ve been worth the $250 ticket price.
After basing their name (and claim) in ’08, Rothbury went with a different lineup approach with this year’s show. At the 2009 show, you won’t get to see any of the big names of today’s music industry. If you are looking to dance with Lady Gaga or sing along to Coldplay, then Rothbury is probably not for you. However, there will be plenty of talent at the show , including The String Cheese Incident, Guster and Son Volt. From STS9 to Willie Nelson to Flogging Molly, everyone and their brother will get to enjoy Rothbury ’09.
Highlighting this year’s show are Bob Dylan and his band along with one of my personal favorites, G. Love & Special Sauce. And if that isn’t enough for you, those who attend Rothbury 2009 will find themselves in the presence of some of the greatest musicians of all time: The Dead (comprised of the living members of the Grateful Dead).
Get ready. Rothbury Festival 2009 is only a few months away. The show kicks off July 2 right in our backyard (Rothbury, Michigan) and goes through the 5th. So, grab your friends, load up the car and get ready for what might just be the greatest weekend of your entire life (so far).
