According to BusinessWeek.com, the likely buyer is Blockbuster, whose largest shareholder, Carl Icahn, has agreed to finance the acquisition.

The idea has been passed around that Blockbuster and Circuit City would come together to create a new national chain selling hardware and software for the consumer, perhaps to take on chain Best Buy, who has been a step ahead of Circuit City in recent years.

A slowing U.S. economy won’t stop plans to move forward with construction of a new multi-million dollar mall at the long-vacant site of the former Sietsma’s orchard. According to local news sources, the city planning director has given developers final site approval on the proposed Village of Knapps Crossing shopping mall, to be located near the intersection of Knapp and the East Beltline.

According to WOOD TV8, the project must now submit a final traffic analysis to the Michigan Department of Transportation in order to assess the development’s “impact on drainage.”
