Fireworks in Denver: Obama blasts McCain on national security
“We are the party of Roosevelt,” said Barack Obama in accepting the Democratic nomination for president. “We are the party of Kennedy. So don’t tell me that Democrats won’t defend this country. Don’t tell me that Democrats won’t keep us safe.”
Ready or not, Obama takes on the world
Change is coming to Europe - as in, for the first time in years, more Europeans than not are actually excited about the visit of a high profile U.S. politician. According to the AFP, if western Europeans were to choose between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, Obama would win in a landslide. Obama scores as high as 67 percent in Germany, while McCain is favored by just six percent in the same country.
Disapproval of Congress works against Dems in ‘08
Ironically, the Democrats’ major Congressional electoral victory in 2006 may work to their disadvantage in 2008. It’s virtually impossible that Republicans will narrow their deficit in Congress in the November elections, but Democrats’ plans to all-but sweep the contest will almost certainly be complicated by public dissatisfaction as evidenced in the AP-Ipsos poll.

Don’t hold your breath…
Clinton is a dangerous choice for vice president as her very name is likely to discourage traditionally conservative independents from siding with Obama. Although she would undoubtedly advance Obama’s appeal among women and blue collar voters, there are many other prominent Democrats that could offer similar rewards without the needless risks.

It’s on: Barack Obama endorsed by John Edwards at Van Andel Arena

Change comes to Grand Rapids
Tonight’s appearance by Barack Obama in Grand Rapids only reinforces my confidence that The Saint editorial board made the right choice in endorsing the Illinois senator as our preferred Democratic candidate all the way back in the fall of 2007.
